Well, I threatened it, and now it’s happening…BAM! This just happened (this just happening? Wow, English, much hard).

Since I returned from France, I’ve been beavering away like a ninja to get the Guide to Cycling in France ebook done. And now it’s done, and currently at the Ninja Design House getting finished.

You can read the pre-launch page here.

To the right you can see the incredibly cool cover I have made with Black Belt Covers (this software is actually really handy – it’s currently USD$37 down from USD$167).

Anyway, go check the ebook pre-launch page out – you can subscribe to the tdftips.com mailing list for other cool tools, resources and tips. There’s currently a free UE flight planner on that subscribe page (you don’t even have to subscribe, though it’d be awesome if you did).

The ebook is informed by the hours of research I did in planning the trip as well as the experiences I had on the road.

There’s some very useful information particularly around baggage limits for bikes.

It covers pretty much everything you need to know including:

• Initial Planning (airports, baggage, auto hire etc)
• Airlines and how bikes are treated in terms of baggage costs
• Taking your own bike versus hiring, and how to pack your bike
• Mobile and data roaming tips and recommendations designed to save you thousands (I mean that literally, thousands)
• Watching the Tour from roadside – tips and things to watch out for
• Participating in L’Etape du Tour – planning, pitfalls, tips
• Must-have French phrases for the bike and touring around France
• Tips for finding free wifi (free and unsecured)
• Coffee locations, and how to find good coffee
• Road quality/types, travel times and what to expect at toll gates
• Car hire versus campervan hire – the pros and cons of each one
• Weather tips
• Places to base yourself for rides (e.g. the Cols)
• Critical and nice-to-have equipment list suggestions
• Contacts, handy links and more

So, I’ve pretty much made it super easy for you to get your butt to France and removed almost every reason you have for not going (money is a fair reason, a wife or husband who won’t let you is not a good reason!).

If you run a cycling (or other) website and are interested in promoting the product, there’s going to be a media/PR and affiliate kit made available soon, however you can start promoting it now by signing up to be an affiliate here – affiliate commission will be 50%.

I’m now crazy busy tying loose ends up and getting promotion to other sites.

When I’m done and launched, I’ll be writing an in-depth case study on how I launched my ebook: from go to woe – this will appear on projectheresy.com (which due to my heavy workload is looking VERY forlorn right now but I’ll fix that soon).
